Solar Space Cooling
Solar Venti units can be upgraded with our underground cooling system which helps to keep the interior of your dwelling cooler in summer. By using the naturally cold ground deep on the southern (shaded) side of your dwelling, you can take advantage of its thermal lag properties.
Steps:
- In summer your Solar venti heating panel (on the north facing rooftop) is not required, but it can still provide solar power from its solar PV cell.
- The Solar Venti controller (inside the dwelling) is therefore switched over to cooling mode.
- The Solar Venti DC electricity now powers a ducted fan that draws in cooled air from the under ground cooling system.
- The air from the shaded southern side of your dwelling travels underground, is cooled and releases excess moisture as it cools.
- The ducted fan deposits this cooler, dryer air into your dwelling without needing any electricity from the mains grid at all.
The best part about this approach is that you are cooling your dwelling without using ANY mains electricity from the grid. This means you are significantly reducing your carbon footprint as well as your cooling related energy bills. Furthermore, if you already have a grid connected solar PV system installed, you would optimize the amount of power that you would normally export to the grid in summer, increasing the solar systems contribution towards your feed in tariff credits.
