SPONSOR A SOLAR CELL

What's the big idea?

Ecoworld Australia's: Sponsor a Solar Cell (SASC) project is a crowd sourcing initiative with an open invitation to anyone online who wants to support the deployment of clean green renewable energy systems.

Sponsor a Solar Cell is the first web community funded, renewable energy project of its kind; designed to fund the installation of grid connected solar panels on rooftops where they can contribute back to the global community by helping to reduce carbon emissions, helping you, me and everyone.

Grid connected solar arrays are usually made up of several or even dozens of solar panels, these solar panels are in turn made up of many smaller single solar cells; so one overall solar installation is therefore made up of hundreds of these small square solar cells.

If the cost of establishing a grid connected solar array could be segmented down and shared across hundreds of individuals across the internet, then its possible, as a group, we could help establish entire grid connected solar arrays and make a tangible contribution to reducing the effects of climate change.

So if you are renting, or not in a position to install solar yourself, or simply a concerned person, business or group who wants to take action and do something, however small, to combat the possible effects of climate change then Sponsor a Solar Cell may be an affordable way for you to make a tangible difference and contribute to change for the better in the real world as part of a global online community.

How do I sponsor some silicon?

First it's probably best to watch the following video to make sure you know what the steps are when selecting and then sponsoring your patch of silicon.

Please read all of these steps before proceeding:

1. Follow this link or click on the silicon cell on this page to go the SASC web page.

2. Click on "Select Solar Pixels" at the top of the page.

3. Read the instructions then click on the "Sponsor a Cell!" button and please WAIT for the images to load.

4. Once the image finally arrives (it can be slow), drag a region with your mouse across the solar panels to select the best shape and size for your logo to sit within. As you drag you will notice the financial value increase or decrease depending on how large a section of silicon you want to sponsor.

5. Once you have the region you want to sponsor selected hit the "continue" button.

6. You can then upload your logo, favicon or avatar in either jpg, gif or png format or choose from some of our supplied images. Your artwork will automatically scale to fit within the shape of the silicon solar cell you selected, so it's a good idea to try and approximate your logos shape (not size) when selecting your sponsored region of silicon cell. For example if your logo is rectangular then you would probably want to select a rectangular region of solar cell so that your logo doesn't distort too much.

7. Once you have uploaded your logo and hit continue you will be asked for a URL (web page link) that will be associated with your artwork, so visitors can visit that sponsors web site. You must include the "http://" part of your URL in the first entry field but it is not required for the other 2 fields. If you are not a business or company you might like to send people to your blog, facebook or twitter page for example.

8. Next you will be prompted for your email address, this is so we can send you a payment confirmation email as well as a link so you can modify your sponsorship details and artwork or links in the future.

9. A listing of all your supplied details will then be displayed.

10. Finally you can securely pay for your sponsored section of the solar array with your credit card, either by inputting your credit card details or via PayPal.

11. Once you have successfully paid your amount you will be sent back to the front page of SASC where you will see your logo rendered into the solar array graphic panel.

12. Once all the cells have been sponsored then the accumulated goal trust fund will be used to install the grid connected solar system and you will be notified by email with a link to that projects blog.

Who benefits?

Participating sponsors, of all sizes, will automatically receive online and real-world advertising space for their logo or avatar, a link back to their website, real-time web based monitoring of the energy output and carbon reductions that their sponsored solar system produces (once installed), along with a project blog page to check in on anytime online.

Of course everyone on Earth who breathes air benefits when grid connected solar systems are installed and running, because they directly help reduce the load draw on coal fired power stations, which in turn, reduces the amount of coal needing to be burnt, which means cleaner air and fewer harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

Each new Sponsor a Solar Cell project will also be supporting long standing community conscious eco-groups, such as organic food co-operatives, conservation groups, permaculture centres, community food gardens, EV recharging stations, etc,. The idea is to try and get the highest possible eco-return for everyones dollar by not only generating clean energy but also by supplying that green energy to sustainability groups who need community support to function and stay viable as the effects of climate change and economic instability take hold.

Where does my money go?

All funds go directly into a project specific trust account held within an award winning ethical investment community bank until the goal amount is reached, at which time, the grid connected solar system is then scheduled, installed and commissioned under supervision by Ecoworld Australia.
